10 Ways to Promote a Blog

Promoting a blog is just as important as creating the blog post itself. Promotion is the means of telling others the blog post is up and that it is worth reading. You need to tell others about it. Doing this is a process. The goal is to write something that is interesting enough that others want to read it. However, it needs to go one-step further as well. You need to write something that people want to share with others. By doing this, you get more readers to your blog.

10 Ways to Get Started

The following are ten ways you can start to promote your blog. It is a good idea to promote it in as many different ways as possible. Getting this level of attention is essential because it increases your traffic and gives you the opportunity to achieve your blog goals faster and more efficiently.

  1. Interact with and read other blogs that may not be your direct competition but close to it. The key here is to interact through comments. In doing so, you will be able to use a link back to your site. If your comments are interesting enough, people will click on them to go to your site to check it out.
  2. Use Facebook. Posting to your business page or to your personal wall can be a great way to get people back to your site to read your content. Facebook is the largest of the social media sites and it is easy to use. All you need to do is put a link to your blog post on your wall and you will have people visiting to read it.
  3. Use Twitter as well. Building a Twitter following takes time but for those who use this tool to socialize, it is one of the best ways to communicate with people in a fast and easy format.
  4. Find forums and socialize in them. Forums that relate to your topic are often the best possible location to visit. More specifically, learn your audience and then find the forums online they belong to. Join and interact using your blog’s link in your signature line.
  5. Do guest blog posts on another blog with links back to your own blog. This is a great way to get attention to your site. It is also a good way for you to build links pointing into your site, which is good for search engine ranking.
  6. Generate a following that comes back to you repeatedly. Creating a subscriber list is a good place to start. Allow people to join your subscriber list so they are alerted about new posts. Then, post frequently enough to bring them back.
  7. Rank well in the search engines. SEO is still a very important component to driving traffic to your website. The key here is to focus on developing targeted keywords in each of your posts without making it sound bad.
  8. Talk about your blog wherever you go. Be sure this is both online and offline. Tell people that your blog is present.
  9. Use article directories to help you to gain traffic. Posting articles about topics on these sites can help you to get a link into your blog. This can help new blogs significantly.
  10. Use a link to your blog or your latest blog post in your email signature line. How many emails do you send out each day? What if just a fraction of those people came to your site.

Promoting your blog needs to be a focus. Do not undermine the success of your site by not promoting it enough.
