New gTLDs is about to Change the Whole Internet

The list of new domain extensions has been announced! If you’re unfamiliar, the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers, ICANN, developed a New Generic Top-Level Domain program, which allows new gTLDs into the Internet’s addressing system. So basically anything to the right of the dot is now fair game — you won’t just have .com and .net you’ll have .you and .lol and lots more.

There were surprises as companies were running behind it and applying for different extensions and the biggest  was google has applied for over 100 extensions.

This is a costly venture as ICANN charge $185,000 per application, so yes google have dropped as much as you are thinking and total ICANN will take in about $357,000,000  Huge amount from this new gTlds applications.

I wonder if  ICANN would become the richest organization one day the way they are charging per application and there must be a yearly fee for these extensions.
